Run for the Hills 2020

Friends of Francis Park and the St Louis Hills Neighborhood Association welcomes you to join us for our Run for the Hills 5k Run this September. With many of our events and park fundraisers canceled because of the pandemic, we believe the Run of 2020 must go on! For the well-being and safety of our runners and volunteers, this year’s version will look much different but will still keep the tradition alive for the 29th consecutive year. 100% of the money raised from the Run for the Hills is spent directly on Francis Park.

What’s different in 2020?

Registrants for the Run for the Hills will receive a course map with registration and will be able to run the 5K race on their own schedule between September 12 and September 19.

Using the map provided as your guide, run the 5K course that starts at the intersection of Donovan and Itaska Streets, winds around Francis Park and through the St. Louis Hills neighborhood and ends at Nottingham and Tamm Avenues.

There will be no 1 Mile Walk & Fun Run or Competitive Youth Run this year.

Please be mindful that there will be no streets blocked to vehicular traffic and no volunteers or emergency vehicles will be present along the course. Please adhere to the conditions of the road–including traffic and weather conditions–and use sidewalks where appropriate.

What makes the Run for the Hills the best 5k in StL? ↙️
☀️You are so ready for this- you’ve been training all spring and summer!
☀️A fast course winding through the beautiful hills!
☀️The very most popular t-shirt in St Louis Hills will be back!
☀️You are supporting the park which has been an essential part of your life, especially in 2020. 100% of the money raised from the Run for the Hills is spent directly on our treasured neighborhood centerpiece, Francis Park. As most if not all of our park fundraisers have been wiped out this year, this may be our only park fundraiser in 2020.
☀️Received the Best Neighborhood Support Award over all other St Louis metro area races! I hope we can live up to that distinction again in 2020.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update – 03/21/2020

St. Louis Hills Neighborhood Residents/Friends

In an effort to comply with the (COVID-19, Social Distancing) City and County requirements effective, 3/23/20 and to keep our residents safe, the St. Louis Hills Neighborhood Association (SLHNA) has cancelled ALL Meetings, Committee Meetings and Events, for the remainder of March through April 22nd.

This includes the SLHNA General Meeting and the Annual Easter Egg Hunt.

On behalf of the SLHNA Board Members, Executive Committee, and Committees our utmost concern is your safety during this time. Our sincere appreciation to those in the Emergency Services fields, pharmaceuticals, and other services who are still maintaining these necessities for the public.

If I may be of service or answer questions feel free to email me directly.

Nothing is better than having someone with local knowledge help us out. You can sign up for a shift and race location here:

Host housing! Many of the racers travel constantly and look for ways to make their visit to St. Louis more affordable. If you have a spare bedroom or two (or four) you can offer to have athletes stay as a guest. Contact Amy Strahan if you have space to share:

Sponsor the races or participate in the Expo: We have a local expo each day that aspires to have a blend of neighborhood businesses and outside vendors. All the various sponsorship levels include Expo opportunities and we have a special rate for local businesses. Here is the program:

Bring the Family! We have kids races each day that get pro treatment. For $7 you get a bib number, ribbon, t-shirt, and a chance to be cross the professional finish line. Register each day on site.

Host a Party! Make the event even bigger by inviting friends, family, and customers to enjoy a great day in one of the four great neighborhoods.

Participate! Saturday AM, we have a FREE charity ride on the Francis Park Course, The Ride to Unite. Come ride alongside the pros and with children from many local charity groups. Sunday on the Hill, Trailnet is hosting their Giro della Montagna recreational ride.
