The St. Louis Hills Neighborhood Association (SLHNA) encourages activity and participation in all aspects of community living in our St. Louis Hills neighborhood. Nominal yearly dues provide operational expenses for many events, programs, and projects for all residents.
Annual events include a Easter Egg Hunt, the Run for the Hills, Christmas Tree Lighting and a Holiday Party. Biannually, there is a House Tour of selected neighborhood homes. Lawn & Garden and Christmas Lighting Awards are given yearly to recognize landscaping and seasonal decoration efforts with a plaque for excellence. Each year the SLHNA offers three $600 one-time Scholarships to neighborhood eighth graders to use in their freshman year. The Block Captain and Neighborhood Watch programs are always expanding. Currently, there are about 130 Block Captains within the 12 areas by which St. Louis Hills is divided for these programs. Block Captain volunteers perform as organizers, information gatherers/distributors, and liaisons with the SLHNA board and city police. Hills Street News is the title of a quarterly newsletter devoted to focused areas of interest for Block Captains and residents.
In addition to SLHNA Officers, members devote volunteer time and energy to needs of the neighborhood. The Membership Committee is your gateway to the association and personally welcomes new home owners to the neighborhood. Our innovative system is shared with other neighborhood associations for their adaptation. Other SLHNA committees include: Budget Committee; Francis and Willmore Parks Committee; Scholarship Committee provides a limited number of monetary awards to Hills resident students who are nominated to receive funds; Communications Committee produces an annual newsletter; Business Committee establishes contacts and communications with local businesses and reviews the business plans of potential new businesses; Streets and Property work in close association with the Block Captain Program and Business Committee; Police Relations; and Promotions Committees round out committee tasks. Check out the Calendar and/or Upcoming Events page for more information regarding events and meetings.
